What does a fuel-cell or electrolyzer test station include, and how does EIS fit in?
A complete test station combines reactant or water-feed control, flow and humidification, temperature, pressure/back-pressure, safety interlocks, a cell fixture, sensors, data acquisition and control software. Fuel-cell stations use a programmable electronic load; electrolyzer stations use a power supply and/or potentiostat. EIS and high-frequency resistance add diagnostics beyond a polarization curve, separating ohmic, charge-transfer and mass-transport contributions and tracking degradation. Define required power, chemistry, pressure, cell area and gas/liquid handling before configuration.
