What is flash chromatography and when should I use a CombiFlash system?
Flash chromatography is automated, low-to-medium-pressure purification used to isolate milligram-to-kilogram quantities of a target compound from a reaction mixture. A CombiFlash system runs a solvent gradient through a disposable or reusable silica/C18 cartridge with inline UV (and optional ELSD/mass) detection and automatic fraction collection — far faster and more reproducible than manual column chromatography, making it the standard tool in medicinal, synthetic and natural-product chemistry.
How do CombiFlash NextGen systems scale from milligrams to kilograms?
The same gradient method scales by changing cartridge size and flow. Typical loading spans a few milligrams on small RediSep cartridges up to hundreds of grams (kilogram-scale campaigns) on large columns, so a method developed at screening scale transfers to production without re-optimisation.
