- Electric Conductivity (γ): Measures a material’s ability to conduct electricity, applicable to solutions, metals, and gases.
- Electric Conductance (G): The reciprocal of electrical resistance ®, measured in Siemens (S).
- Measurement Technique: Voltage is applied to electrode pairs, and current is measured. Cations move to cathodes, anions to anodes, creating electrical conduction.
- Cell Constant (K): Ratio of electrode distance (l) to surface area (A). Knowing K helps determine specific conductivity from measured conductance.
- Conductivity Cells: Used for measurements, these cells provide valuable data on a material’s electrical properties.
